THIS is what I've been doing every day for the last 4 months...

It's been a good week for this American in NZ...

I finished the first draft of my manuscript, here in all its glory:

I've still got a long way to go until it's ready for anybody else to actually read, but printing this out and having something tangible is a good feeling.

And then, as if that weren't enough, I saw that ELIZABETH GILBERT will be in town in May for the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival! What can this city not do? Seeing her in the program made me freak out - I'm  scooping up my tickets tomorrow. Early. If her seminar is half as inspiring as her TED talk, then I'd better come prepared with pen and LOTS of paper for some serious note action.

Also, did anybody else love Eat, Pray, Love as much as I did? I didn't read it until a few months ago because it sort of passed over the UK. But I love, love, loved it and am interested to see who else shares that with me. Anybody?

Hope you guys are having some excitment this week too.

Congrats on the first draft done!!! How exciting for you! It feels good, doesn't it? Now, comes the best part (at least for me) - I loved just editing it, knowing the words were there.
And, I just finished E. Gilbert's second book, Committed, so good! If you liked Eat, Pray, Love - you'll love Committed. I also watched her TED talk last summer, and she's just incredible. A true inspiration.

Congrats, Alisha! Can I receive an early reader edition? :)

I loved the first and second chapters of E,P,L, but felt that the third was a little forced. Did you see that they are making it into a movie? Julia Roberts is playing Elizabeth Gilbert. There's a trailer on themoviebox.net

You impress me with your consistent blogging! It makes me feel like, in some small way, I am experiencing NZ with you instead of being at jury duty. (hey, at least they have internet access here!)

Thanks for the congrats, it does feel good! Meagan, my favorite part is the editing too, the most difficult part is finished. And I read Committed too and love it as well. :)

Kelly, you can definitely have an early edition, I'll let you know when it's ready.

Amy, glad you're performing your civic duty and happy to help you escape from the courtroom to NZ.

Congratulations on finishing your manuscript!! That is awesome!!

Although I wasn't a huge fan of Eat, Pray, Love, I really loved her TED talk! Can't wait to hear how her program is in May!

Congrats, Lish! You deserve a significant reward. I use carrots to get me to my goals: something from Anthropologie every 100 pages and something big when I'm all done. :)

I started Eat Pray Love, but never got far, though I liked it at the time. I just need to pull out all my abandoned books, put them in a pile and start reading. Thanks for glowing rec. I'll put it back on my reading list.

Alisha,
I'm sooo proud of you!!!! LOOK AT YOU! BIG Manuscript? WOW!

So glad you're spending time in NZ...it seems so amazing country to live there.

YES, LUV Eat Pray Love. Because Elizabeth's story is so real. Authentic. Accessible. We all relate to her. And what she discovered.

Hugs to you dahlin! I hope to chat with you soon, or skype. :D
